Website key success factor number 1. – Most Wanted Actions

Friday, December 3rd, 2010 by mark

One of the first things you need to consider about your website is what I call your “Most wanted actions”.

In other words what exactly do you want your website visitor to do when they visit your site.

For example, do you want them to start shopping on your site, or perhaps you want them to contact you or fill in an optin form– Regardless of what that action is, you must be absolutely clear on it BEFORE you speak to any web designer.

You see, your most wanted action will have a big influence on the layout of your website. Your designer will need to design your page / pages in a way that will draw your visitors attention to a particular area of your site, where you’ll compel your visitor to perform your most wanted action.

Take a look at these examples and try and guess what the “Most wanted action” is:

Most Wanted Action Example 1

And here’s another:

Most Wanted Action Example 2

The most wanted action for the first site is to get the visitor to try out one of the tutorials.

The most wanted action for the second site is for the user to enter their email address and watch the video.

Pretty obvious right?

Hopefully by now you can see the importance of determining your most wanted action before you speak with your web developer.
